Hot Stock

Raw volume flatters small companies, and this page is meant to correct for that; it is waiting on the fundamental feed that supplies each company's market capitalisation.

What

What this page is

Market capitalisation is a company's size on the market: share price multiplied by shares issued. Hot Stock is meant to weight the day's floor-sheet activity by that size, so a large company genuinely being accumulated ranks above a tiny one where a few lakh rupees looks like a spike.

The weighting needs a market-cap figure per company, and that feed is not loaded. Rather than rank on a number that does not exist, the page shows a placeholder card describing the intended ranking. Nothing on it is a market reading.

Why

Why it helps you

If you trade
Days to weeks · you care about timing and the crowd.
  • Nothing usable today. For raw activity on the same day, Stocks gives traded quantity, turnover and average rate, and its two charts already show how differently a list orders by money versus by share count.
  • When it does arrive it will be a ranking, not a signal — a way to sort the day's activity, still needing the same checks any other list needs.
If you invest
Months to years · you care about quality and price paid.
  • A size-weighted activity ranking is closer to an investor's question than most of this section, since it favours companies large enough to matter.
  • Even so it will measure one day of trading. Company size is used to weight activity here, not to value the business.
When · Where

When to use it, and where to find it

  • Not yet. The only reason to open it now is to check whether the fundamental feed has been loaded.
  • Once live, after the close alongside Stocks, as the size-adjusted view of the same day.

How to

Try it — a short walkthrough

  1. 1
    Read the badge
The card is marked as a placeholder. There is no data view hidden behind a toggle or a date change.

  2. 2
    Read why raw volume misleads
The card explains the problem the page is meant to solve. That reasoning is worth carrying to any volume list you do use today.

  3. 3
    Use Stocks instead
Open Stocks from the left menu for the same date. Sort by Turnover and then by Qty — the difference between those two orderings is the effect this page is meant to correct.

1

The placeholder badge

This pill at the top says "Placeholder · not built yet". Any page in the app carrying it has no data behind it.

How — When the badge disappears, the page is real. Until then treat everything below it as a description of a plan.

2

Market-cap weighted activity

The planned ranking is the day's trading activity from the floor sheet, weighted by each company's market cap.

How — The ⓘ next to the heading holds the same explanation in full.

Why raw volume misleads

A small-cap can top a volume list on very little money. If a company has only a few lakh shares outstanding, a few lakh rupees of buying can look like a spike.

How — That is the whole point of weighting by size: it separates a genuine large move from a small stock that is simply easy to move.

What is blocking it

This page needs the fundamental feed — specifically market cap per company. That feed is not loaded yet, so there is nothing to weight the activity by.

How — You can confirm it for yourself: on Filter → Stock the Market Cap, EPS and P/E columns all read 0 for the same reason.

5

The status bar repeats it

The bar along the bottom of the app names the active filter and, on this page, marks it "placeholder" — so you can tell at a glance which filter you are on and whether it has data.

How — On the working filter pages this same bar shows the market open/closed dot, the sector and stock you have selected, and the last update time instead.

6

Where to go instead

Until Hot Stock is wired up, the working pages in this menu give you raw traded quantity and turnover.

How — Click Stocks for quantity, turnover and average rate per stock; Normal Volume to see how much of that volume was just a few block deals; Bulk Trade for the block deals themselves.

  • FS Meter in this menu is also a placeholder.

Reading the numbers

  • There are no columns, units or values on this page. It shows a title, a description of the intended ranking, and a status note naming what is missing.
  • The ⓘ on the card states plainly that nothing is live and points to Stocks as the working alternative.
  • The status bar at the bottom repeats the placeholder state, so an empty screen cannot be mistaken for a quiet day.
Honest limits

What it does not do

  • This is a scaffolded placeholder, not a working filter. No ranking is computed and no numbers are shown.
  • It is blocked on the fundamental feed, specifically market capitalisation per company. Until that lands there is nothing to weight activity by.
  • Blank is deliberate. Showing seed values here would produce a ranking that reads as real.
FAQ

Questions people ask

Can I get the same ranking myself today?

Only roughly. Sorting Stocks by turnover favours expensive companies, which correlates with size but is not the same thing — a small company can have a very high share price.
